5th April 2007 Windsurfing: Essaouira Wind Direction: N Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: WTW sunshine :) Max Speed: Distance Covered: Some wind for our first day in Morocco. Logistical problems meant we weren't able to head straight for Moulay from the airport so we sailed Essaouira instead. It was decently windy on arrival and looked good enough for a 5.2. However after unpacking and rigging up the wind had died and it was not much fun; gusty and flat. Most people gave up after an hour or so but I was determined to log a decent session for our first day here so I came in and changed up. Correct decision - bizarrely the wind then filled in and I scored a decent 45 minutes of powered up sailing in a building swell that allowed the occasional bottom-turn and lip-smack. Annoyingly I had to stop mid-session to help out a stupid kiter who had lost his board otherwise I probably would have scored more rides before the wind died. A nice little session in the end, made all the more satisfying for being the only one of our group out on the water after everyone else had packed up. :) |
